NEC's Best Bets: 11/10/21

While it was a great night in NEC land last night, my first bet didn't go according to play; I took the Mount +23.5 at Villanova and the Wildcats simply laughed at that line.

There's only one game today; Fairleigh Dickinson opens its season at another Big East opponent, Seton Hall. I put a governor on myself that if there's an NEC game being played, I have to bet it.

Anyway; this is not gambling or financial advice, and I'm not suggesting anyone copy me. These are my bets, and my bets only.

Season Record: 0-1.

Today's bet: Fairleigh Dickinson at Seton Hall (-25.5)

Last night, the NEC had four 22+ point underdogs, and just one of them covered (St. Francis-Brooklyn at Wisconsin, by just 1.5 points). Both Big East opponents ('Nova and UConn) easily won by larger margins than the betting lines.

Fairleigh Dickinson is breaking in quite a few first year players into the rotation, and PG Devon Dunn is new in that role. While they looked good in an exhibition last week, Rutgers-Newark (a D3 school) is not Seton Hall. Expect the Knights to be overwhelmed by the size and quickness that the Pirates can throw at you.

This could get ugly early, and while Brandon Rush is a star in the making, Seton Hall should have the athletes to cause him problems. Don't get me wrong; I think FDU will surprise in the NEC (one of my bold predictions is that they finish with a better than .500 record in league play), but they will likely take some lumps early.
